Dr. April Hunziker
Perinatal Psychiatry | Perimenopause & Menopause Psychiatry | Women’s Mental Health
Specialized reproductive and integrative psychiatry for women navigating pregnancy, perimenopause, menopause, bipolar disorder, and complex mental health concerns.
I help women who feel dismissed, exhausted, and disconnected from themselves reclaim their health, confidence, and quality of life through comprehensive psychiatric care that treats the whole person, not just a diagnosis.
I believe healing happens when women finally feel heard, understood, and valued, and when mental health is treated as part of the entire human experience rather than in isolation from the body.

Meet Dr. April Hunziker
Hi, I'm April Hunziker, MD. I'm a reproductive and integrative psychiatrist who believes that mental health cannot be separated from the rest of your health. The brain does not function in isolation, and neither should psychiatric care. True healing requires understanding the connection between the mind, body, hormones, relationships, environment, and the unique experiences that shape each person's life.
My path to psychiatry has been anything but conventional. Before specializing in psychiatry, I completed two years of Obstetrics and Gynecology residency training and later spent years caring for medically complex patients in hospital settings. Throughout my career, I found myself drawn to the patients whose symptoms couldn't be explained by a single diagnosis or organ system. I repeatedly saw women struggling through pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause, and menopause who felt dismissed, unheard, and left to navigate life-changing symptoms on their own. Even my own experience seeking care during early menopause showed me just how significant these gaps in our healthcare system can be.
Today, I combine expertise in reproductive psychiatry, complex medical psychiatry, and integrative care to help patients find answers, restore their quality of life, and feel like themselves again. My goal is simple: to listen carefully, understand the whole picture, and become your partner in creating lasting health and well-being.
Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds you plant.”
— Robert Louis Stevenson
Do you…
Do You Feel Like No One Is Looking at the Whole Picture?
Do you feel like you've been to multiple doctors, therapists, and specialists, yet still don't have answers that truly explain what you're experiencing?
Have you been told your symptoms are "normal," even though you know something isn't right?
Do you find yourself wondering why a stage of life that was supposed to feel freeing and exciting has instead left you exhausted, anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected from yourself, or struggling to recognize the person you've become?
Perhaps you're navigating pregnancy, planning for a family, adjusting to life after having a baby, or moving through perimenopause or menopause. Maybe you're trying to manage bipolar disorder or another mental health condition while balancing work, relationships, caregiving responsibilities, and the countless demands of everyday life.
You may feel like you've spent years taking care of everyone else and now find yourself wondering:
Why don't I feel like myself anymore?
Why is everything suddenly harder?
Why does nobody seem to be listening?
You are not imagining your symptoms.
You are not "just stressed."
You are not failing.
Most importantly, you are not alone.
My practice is designed for women who want more than temporary fixes or symptom management. Together, we look beyond individual diagnoses and explore the full picture of your mental health, physical health, hormones, relationships, life circumstances, and long-term goals. My goal is to help you understand what is happening, find solutions that make sense for your unique situation, and help you create a life that feels meaningful, healthy, and fully your own.
